This course is designed to provide teacher candidates the opportunity to engage with the Common Core State Standards to explore and create multi-disciplinary projects to engage students in learning that encourages critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. Teacher candidates will create lesson and unit plans that focus on instructional planning, how to facilitate project-based instruction, and how to differentiate instruction to ensure equity and inclusion of all learners in the general education MS and ES classroom.
This course is designed to provide teacher candidates the opportunity to learn about the importance of data collection to make data driven decisions to support students. Teacher candidates will also examine their role with data collection to support student learning. Teacher candidates will also learn about IFSPs, IEPs, and transition plans to support students with special needs in the General and Special Education settings.
This course is designed to provide teacher candidates with an understanding of collaborative and co-teaching models and prepare them to implement these models in their schools and classrooms. While co-teaching can be a rewarding experience for teacher candidates and professionals, understanding its elements and foundations are critical in creating a positive learning environment for students. Co-teaching requires not only pedagogical skill on the part of the participating educators, but also a willingness to share and collaborate in the education of all students in the classroom.
