In fact, institutional norms and habits that permeate all classrooms can actually be enabling “non-thinking” student behavior.  Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics (BTC), written by Peter Liljedahl, provides a 14-part framework for shifting your math classroom from a traditional model to an environment in which students become responsible for doing most of the thinking in the room.  Throughout our deep dive into Dr. Liljedahl's book, you will learn how to transform your classroom into an ideal setting for deep mathematics learning to occur!

This is a four-part course (15 hours) to learn the basics of Desmos. Desmos is a free online mathematics tool designed to engage students, increase mathematical skills, and foster the love for mathematics.

You will learn to:

• Use the Desmos math tools to augment your instruction
• Use the Desmos-created teacher activities.
• Use student work on Desmos as formative assessment.
• Create your own custom activities.
• Share and modify existing activities.
• Use the Computational Layer to create activities that have self-checking, randomly generated problems, and other interactive components.
