My experience with distance learning was extremely hard as a parent. My son (12) and daughter (7) had a hard time adjusting. They are use to being busy, so staying home was very challenging.
I have to say I was lucky with my children's teacher's on how they kept them engaged in learning with virtual science projects, talent shows and once a week classroom virtual gatherings.
I feel there there was both advantages and disadvantages in my kids experiences as well as mine.
My kids are very active as well and as much as they enjoyed being home the first few days it got old for them very fast. My son plays soccer all year around so when he got cut from it from one day to another it was hard for him to adapt to not having that physical activity of running with his teammates.
Hi, I share a similar experience as you with my kid. Even my kid was in high school when the distance learning started, it was tough for me too. On the contrary, the harder time for me was adjusting with my special education kids. They thought that all this time was vacations and they like to work no before non. They were engaged and participating in the assignments. Even they need more time they finished all the work. The program assigned them no more than 45 minutes, to work one on one with each one by zoom. To me, it was challenging to help them. It was no enough time to work on all. I know I have to organize smarter my time to work with them under the time frame. And I will.
