Enrollment options

Each Multiple Subject or Education Specialist Intern Program must include a minimum of 120 clock hour (or the semester or quarter unit equivalent) pre-service component which includes:


General and Foundational Pedagogy including classroom management and planning,

Reading/Language Arts,

Subject-Specific Pedagogy,

Human Development, and

Specific content regarding the teaching of English Learners


This course is part of a series of pre-service courses offered by Merced County Office of Education Intern Programs, fulfilling the required 120 clock-hours (or equivalent) of pre-service training. This course focuses on the foundational pedagogical skills necessary for effective teaching, emphasizing classroom management and planning.  Candidates will explore various strategies for creating and maintaining positive and productive learning environments, including effective planning techniques, classroom organization, and proactive behavior management approaches.  This foundational knowledge will serve as a basis for subsequent coursework addressing specific content areas and pedagogy.
